Minutes for IFIS AGM 18/3/1999
- Attendance: A fabulous THIRTY ONE members turned up.
- Raffle tickets were sold to the members by Chris White and Steve Dismukes.
- Apologies were made for absences

- Reports were given by the Committee members:
- Asan (Chair) highlighted the increase in new members, which had risen from 60 at fresher's fayre, to 180 at the time of the AGM. This was largely due to the film evenings, which often had 30-60 people at each. We had a very good xmas dinner, and in the 2nd half of the year, more films, more fun, etc.
- Chris (Secretary) read the minutes from the previous AGM.
- Steve (Treasurer) gave a financial report, telling us that the union theoric for the year was a pittiful £46. A full report can be made available by email.
- The Committee then resigned, and elections were held for the
Committee positions:
- Nick Waterman nominated as returning officer, no objections raised.
- Chairman:
Charlotte Ruddick and Giles Allen nominated.
Charlotte elected almost unanimously - Secretary:
Isabel Eden, Despina Christofis-Varnava, Giles Allen and Alex Wincup nominated.
Isabel elected by a large majority. - Treasurer:
Lee Foulger, Giles Allen, Despina Christofis-Varnava, Philip Walker and David Adamson nominated.
Lee recieved a negligible number of votes over Despina, consequently the returning officer called a second round of votes.
Despina elected by a fair majority. - Librarian:
Alex Wincup, Giles Allen, Alison Perkins and Liam nominated.
Alex elected by large majority. - Publicity Officer:
Chris Lyth, Anthony Beschizza, Giles Allen, Gordan Bobic and Andy Wren nominated.
Chris Lyth recieved marginally more votes than Anthony Beschizza, second round of voted called.
Chris and Anthony win equal number of votes.- Proposed motion for a second round of speeches:
Motion fails almost unanimously. - Proposed motion for two Publicity Officers:
For 26, Against: 4, Abstentions 0,
Motion clearly carried.

Motion passed. Despina selects Lee as Assistant Treasurer. - Proposed motion: two people should hold the post of Librarian
for the next year

Motion passed. - Proposed motion: the title Chairman should be changed to Chair
for the next year
For 12, Against 1, Abstentions: 2
Motion passed.

- Raffle tickets were drawn. Toys, books, videos, stella, kronenbourg, and a lightsabre were given as prizes.
- Society adjourned to the pub.
