Minutes for IFIS GM 21/10/1999

IFIS General Meeting, Thursday 21st October 1999, Founders Main Lecture Theatre 7.05pm

  • C Ruddick made opening remarks and welcomed everyone to the meeting.
  • The agenda was presented and approved.
  • C Ruddick welcomed new members to the society and gave a brief overview of activities.
  • A Whincup announced the revised library opening times, and the location and working of the library. The library will now be open Wednesday 13:00-15:00, and Saturday 10:00-12:00.
  • C Ruddick raised the issue of the IFIS constitution. It was announced that the existing constitution was very out of date and would required substantial revision. A new constitution, written at the request of the committee, had been prepared. The committee would like this to be approved to take effect immediately.

  • C Ruddick said that the committee wanted to point out that the new constitution did away with the posts of Assistant Treasurer and Assistant Librarian, and that the present occupiers of these posts were in favour of the change. The committee had also decided that the present Assistant Treasurer and Assistant Librarian would be co-opted back onto the committee, as general committee members, for the duration of their original term of office. Asked if anyone present had any questions.
  • C Ruddick informed the meeting that because this was a constitutional change a vote would taken. The meeting was informed that only paid up members of the society could vote.
  • I Eden announced that from the entry lists, all present were entitled to vote.

  • C Ruddick informed the meeting that as a result of the vote the constitution had been changed with immediate effect.
  • C Ruddick informed the meeting of upcoming events including an invitation to fireworks on the 4th November.
