Given how many avid Trek fans we have around here, I'm surprised no-one has
even mentioned there are trailers up online for it.

What are peoples thoughts so far? (or should I start donning a
flame-retardant suit?)

There's a link here

http://www.ifis.org.uk/multimedia/trailers/startrek.uri.shtml

if people haven't found it anywhere else yet

My thoughts?

"Why cant' they get someone who looks vaguely like the young versions of each of them?"

Well, apart from the one playing McCoy, he looks about right.

I'm very quietly hopeful that it will turn out alright.

I like the look of the Star trek: 90210 crew, and Simon Pegg should be good
for a laugh.
I was a little bit concerned that the bridge looked a bit too high tech, but
then remembered that anything resembling the original bridge equipment is
going to look a bit naff, no matter how much we fondly remember it.

Let's keep our fingers crossed that the film doesn't continually have a
disembodied voice shouting "JIM! JIM!" all throughout it.

I have to admit to still being baffled? I can't see any common cast or crew
between Cloverfield and Star Trek 0?

Me neither... specifically, the 'Hud' bloke doesn't seem to be there.

Oh actually, I get it now... J. J. Abrams is the producer/director of both. :-P
