Although now I look at it, there are actually drinks on offer beforehand. How very tempting... ;)

Hi,

I've already spoken to Chris Turner about this and will be giving him my
money on Thursday, if that's OK?

Jacquie

It should be fine - I gave them a list of everyone who had told me there were up for it.

Not certain if the subsidised price is just for members or not (I did check, but Matt wasn't sure as they'd not thought about it). But if it is, membership is 7quid so that still makes it less than the full cost of the meal.

Hmm... I expressed an interest, but I haven't given anyone any money yet... and I'm probably not going to be there this Thursday. Also, I'm definitely not a member at the mo, as my SU membership is expired and I haven't heard anything about getting a lifetime membership. I was given the impression that would turn up with my results... but I got those a couple of weeks ago with nothing else included.

Maybe they meant with my certificates? Which I think turn up in Feb... anyway, enough about that. I'm not a current IFIS ember, andsince I don't have an SU card, I can't re-join at the mo.Oh well, full whack I guess.

Actually, you need more than an SU card these days. You also need to fork
out for the insurance (aka Student Activities Membership) too. Which is now
a further 10quid per year or 25quid for 3 years. Totally pointless for us
given how un-dangerous all our activities are, but they insist on it *rolls
eyes*

Although they didn't seem to be insisting on it that heavily at Freshers
Fayre given how many people joined up without it... *shrugs*

PS You don't need to wait for them to send you stuff - just walk in and
they'll have forms for you to fill in...

Well maybe they do. Like I say, I won't be around tomorrow... so I'm unlikely to get it sorted before next week! What with not living in Egham anymore.

Can I give someone the money when I turn up on the 11th?

I'm afraid that the stickers they give you for the insurance are only valid
for a year; you have to go back every year to get the latest one. Assuming
they haven't lost the records like the this year (luckily they found them
again).

Likewise for me - I expressed interest, but haven't been around to
talk to anybody. I can arrange to get money to Chris as appropriate,
though...

Also, I'm definitely not a member at the mo

Again, likewise. Having been a sneaky infiltrator from a different
university makes it awkward - I gave up trying to get associate SU
membership a few years back when they made it impossible for me to do
without taking a day off work for a 50/50 chance that the right people
might be in the office... I've heard it's easier again these days,
but I'm around so rarely it's not really worth the hassle.

When do I need to get money to Chris by?

No idea... the Tuesday beforehand I think. And I don't know if it's him or the committee who need the money.

Whilst Matt was taking peoples' money last night, I don't think there is any
requirement to pay anyone before hand. By all means pass the money to the
committee via me or something, but right now (AFAIK based on the original
email) they just need to know who is going by Monday, so we don't end up
with 40 people or something. And you've both already sorted that part out.

PS Not that having 40 people would be an issue, cos it's a pub and they'll
be serving normal food and there'll be some of us there that aren't doing
the sit down meal thing to socialise with too probably. Just in case anyone
else decides to randomly show up on the off chance.

I see...so it's still the full 20, since I don't have the SU membership thingy? Damn...
