"I, Robot"- the book that Hollywood tried to ruin

Review by on

"I, Robot" is an interesting collection of short stories, connected by the overarching narrative of the life of Dr Calvin and the work of the U.S. Robots and Mechanical Men, Inc.

In this work, one delves into a world of mechanical men and the evolution of robots. An exquisite world is painted, with fascinating stories exploring logic and the various possible combinations of the Three Laws of Robotics. The main drawback for the stories, in my view, is that to a large degree the plots for quite a few of the stories are driven mainly by dialogue rather than actual action, as shown quite clearly in the final "The Evitable Conflict". Nevertheless, through an exploration of the ways in which the Three Laws can function or be bent, a brilliant world is painted which any fan of sci-fi should find exhilarating.
