A strange and mysterious artifact is found in Egypt and after many years of study is eventually discovered to be a Stargate. A device that allows fast and safe transportation to a planet on the far side of the galaxy.
A crack team of soldiers and the scientist who deciphered the artifact are sent through to this strange alien world to make contact and ensure the Earth remains safe from what ever is located on the other side.
