The 22nd of September is said to be the birth date of Bilbo and Frodo Baggins, but obviously separated by many years.

A long standing tradition of the society holds that on the social that happens to fall on the event of Ladies day at Ascot (3rd Thursday in June), that members should arm themselves with peanuts and prepare for coming of the Hat.

This happens every year on the 25th of May as a tribute to the late Douglas Adams. As a reference to the awesome Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, fans carry with them a towel in his honour. Do you know where your towel is?

Star Wars day is every year on the 4th of May. It is derived from a pun on the Jedi phrase "May the force be with you", namely "May the Fourth be with you".

Royal Holloway is closed over the Easter period.

This doesn't actually start at 7pm - it will take place after the hustings which could take 5 minutes or 3 hours depending on how many candidates are willing to put themselves forward at this time.
