Well worth reading

In the not so distant future, mankind if waging war across the stars against an alien foe. This book recounts the story of one of the soldiers as he is sent repeatedly to the "front line" to engage in battle and the changes he experiences on his return. Because you see, due to relativity and the vast distances he has to travel to reach the battles, what seems like a few months away from home, is actually many decades for the people of Earth.
Each trip brings new and different changes until it seems that the people he is protecting are just as alien to him as the enemy he is fighting.
